Topeka, Bodega

(Does anybody actually read this everyday? I'll keep it short because nothing super interesting happened today.)

Today we went to a winery, which is called a bodega in Spain, which made me just laugh endlessly because I kept imagining all the theatre kids saying, 'Topeka, Bodega, Topeka, Bodega" and nobody got why I was laughing. It was pretty baller, but really cold. It won't stop storming in Alicante / Spain, which is super intense. There was even a story on the news about cars getting washed away by flash-floods. Uh, alriight.

Anyways, the winery was a little boring but better than class, for sure. We learned lots about grapes and wine and got to bounce around the vineyard a bit. Then we got to taste the wine, or in some people's case, drink lots of it, and buy some. I took one of the cool wooden boxes they keep the wine in and turned it into a bookshelf in my room. I like it a lot -- I wish I could get it home somehow! (Yeah, right.)

Mostly we just bopped around and took pictures of us being silly. I felt like a terrible high-school kid on a field trip. Ooops.

Hahah yes, as you can see, we were paying close attention with our notes in hand. Did I mention it was a 2-hour bus ride there and back? Eek.

After that, I came home and hung out with the fam again. My madre took me to the mall because we were bored, and turns it out is SUPER close. So, I take back everything I was saying about everything being far. And, this mall has a SUPERMARKET in it? Like, all of a sudden in the middle of the mall, there's shelves of food next to cell phones. Bizarre. After buying some food, we hung out and had a soda (which, she informed me, Diet Coke is very bad for you and you shouldn't drink it very often. I didn't tell her that I should practically infuse a Diet Coke bottle onto an IV into my skin. She told me that another student had bought a huge bottle and put it in their room and she found it and said not to buy anymore because it's bad for you. Womp womp. There goes my life.

Oh, and this is what we bought for lunch tomorrow:

YUM.

Hasta luego!

  1. Great Topeka Bodega photos. The black & white was especially cool. No need to comment on the fish heads. Grossed me out! I know I would be the worst house guest ever because I would refuse ALL THE FISH MEALS and probably offend them. Good thing YOU like pescado. One question, did you ditch school to go to a winery or was that a planned school activity??? hum? And oh BTW, yes, everyday I check your blog for new info. Like I said, I'm THERE with you so keep them coming.
