So, I've been cooped up again. However, we had a day of respite on Friday night and Saturday, which was pretty wonderful. I was very happy to be DONE with my intensive class on Friday and just let loose and have some fun. Saturday morning, my friend Sarah and I decided to climb the castle. (Which, starts out sounding like a great idea, but then half-way through, when you realize you've only had two hours of sleep and your calves hurt because you walked 11 hours in high heels last night, not so much.)
Okay, I'm exaggerating again. It wasn't that bad. In fact, it was pretty fun, and I felt quite productive. We couldn't exactly figure out how to get there, but we figured it we walked towards the castle and walked upwards, eventually we'd reach the top. Well, we had to scale some walls and off-road it a bit, but we eventually reached the right place and made it to the top.

Looking out over Alicante.
The castle was beautiful and really cool to see. Sarah and I had a photo-taking sesh (you know me!) so there are approximately 1,000 photos of us running around this castle. I'll refrain from all of the ones that look exactly the same and just show you some of the highlights.

Puppy PREJUDICE. I am taking this up with the Spanish government.
What if my puppy wants to see the castle, too?

Top of the castle, looking out over the Mediterranean.
Can you imagine looking out over that and seeing the British Armada going to attack you?
Eek.

Sarah being a captain. The water is beautiful when it isn't pouring.

Looking out over the port. That beach on the left is where we usually go during the days.

Alicante is part of Costa Blanca which is one of the most beautiful coastal regions in the world.

More port. You can see the castle wall here and how high up we are.

Hello Jesus. Why you so scary?
Mostly, we just skipped around the castle pretending we were princesses or pirates or other various ridiculous things. Finally, it started getting cold and we were exhausted, so we climbed back down the castle. We realized that we hadn't really walked around Alicante and taken pictures like tourists, so we wandered around The Barrio and old Alicante to get lots of pictures.

This is Mulligan's. Not much to look at during the day (Okay, let's not lie, not much at night either.) but this is the place to hang. They play a lot of American music and a lot of transfer students go here. Also, on weekends they have a third floor, which is totally techno-ed out.

Looking up at the apartments above the Barrio. Que bonita, no?

Not sure what this is, but its pretty cool.

Our first friend.

Pretty sure he just wanted Miss Rubio :)
Saturday night, went to an American-esque sports bar and watched some good ol' American football with the crew. I was exhausted though from castle-climbing and everything else, so I went to bed pretty early. It rained all day on Sunday so I basically did nothing but sleep. I think I'm getting sick again, which sucks, so I'm heading to the doctor tomorrow to perhaps get some antibiotics before I get sicker.
Love you all! Besos y besos.

Are all of these pictures boring? Mayhaps you are not as amused as I am by the constant taking of photographs. Oh well, if you are bored I get you permission to leave.
Oh, so here's a funny story. Sarah and I were walking around and taking pictures, and this random waiter comes up to us and asks if we want a picture. Sure, we say, why not. Meanwhile, this other guy (I think he worked there, too) asked if we wanted a picture with the waiter. We laughed. Sure, why not. Well, then the second guy was like, I want to be in a picture, too! And so we stood there taking like a thousand pictures with these guys. Sooo funny. They wanted us to come eat and they said they'd give us free something or the other. Haha, yeah, okayy.

I love it all! Don't you dare scale back on the photos. They are amazing. Remember, we are here at home with nothing new to look at. You're photos are fun & exciting and transport us to Alicante with you. And of course the commentary is awesome! The photos overlooking the port and the ones around town are fabulous. Why do you take so many photos of bars??????
