Things I Learn The Hard Way
1. Pay the extra 50 euros to fly in at a decent hour. After you have paid the random bus and taxi, you could've just saved that money and taken the metro.
2. Spanish phones require a PIN number every time you turn them on. What this means is, when shut off, your phone automatically goes into lock-down. Unless you have this very random PIN number (which you don't choose), you are 100% screwed and can't get into anything in your phone. Even to figure out what time it is. Also, you only get 3 tries to guess it, so if you don't know it, you are even more screwed. I don't understand why the Spanish do this. Probably to punish the dumb Americans.
3. Listen to your mother. Always. Just do it.
In other news, I'm in London and its awesome. :)

maybe you should add this to number one: "if a strange man approaches you in a train station and offers you a ride, it doesn't automatically mean he's a taxi driver. always proceed to the legitimate taxi stand just outside the station."
